A long day full of queues but I met my first peregrina at Stansted airport; an American walking the route Frances from St Jean Pied de Port. We commiserate about the weight of our packs which is a constant obsession. It's pouring with rain here so I bought an umbrella which means I need to jettison something now - but what? It's just occurred to me that Bayonne is very famous for its ham - there's got to be a link there!
I had a very nice supper over looking the river- baked cod and a glass of vin de pays Basque. Definitely not the Pilgrim menu!
